Donkin Reserve is essentially a small open public space which was proclaimed by the founder of the city, Sir Rufane Donkin. We will see the Stone Pyramid Monument with a touching inscription erected by Sir Rufane Shaw Donkin in memory of his late wife, Elizabeth, after whom the city was named and the lighthouse.

Itinerary

Your tour begins with pick-up from your Port Elizabeth accommodation at 09:00 am or afternoon slot 13:00 pm, when you’ll board an air-conditioned vehicle to greet your driver and guide.
Your driver/guide will take you to your first stop-off to the Campanile (bell tower) which commemorates the 1820 settlers landing spot and has largest carillon of 23 bells in the country in addition to its chiming clock. Climb 204 steps and make your way to the top and be amazed at the incredible view of the city.
Next, and not far from here you will be driven to visit Fort Fredrick built in 1799. Along the way your guide will point out buildings and other places of interest.
Then you’ll be taken to your next stopover to explore one of the oldest surviving Settler cottages in Port Elizabeth. The Museum is in a quaint cottage with 1800's furnishings.

Afterwards, you will be taken to the Donkin Reserve where you will explore the local streets on a walking tour and wander into Port Elizabeth’s rich cultural history and embrace fascinating art pieces and the indigenous flora.
Next, you will be driven to a unique African shop. Enjoy a cup of locally roasted coffee and treat, while browsing the many fascinating craft and art pieces to purchase at this trendy African craft shop.
Thereafter, you will be dropped off to your accommodation in Port Elizabeth or other location as arranged.
