Probably the worst weather we could have had. Pouring and cold in the middle of summer. Our guide Zane, was extremeley professional and prepared with blankets, ponchos and hot coffee. Despite the weather we were able to view a wide variety of wild animals including: Elephents, Rhinos, Buffelo, zebra, impala, tortoise, a variety of bird life, wildeest and baboons. Our guide had an amazing working knowledge of each of the animals we saw and interesting facts about each one of them. It was an amazing experience. Thank you Zane and Heritage tours!
The guide was very knowledgeable and even made antelope seem as interesting as some of the more popular animals, but it ended there. The Land Cruiser was probably their oldest one (didn't even have a company logo), it was dirty, rusted and the seats were the old long bench type seats. As we drove past Land Cruisers owned by other local companies we could see how neat they were with proper single seat cushioning. Along with this, the snorkels were dirty and had germ build-up in the mouthpieces which simply unacceptable, and we were just given the snorkels and told to go down to the beach (we had no idea where to go and didn't know how safe it was around the rocks because the water was rough). We also never got a "traditional South African braai" (barbeque) which my foreign father-in-law was so excited about, but rather, we got to eat cold chicken with butter knives. All the while seeing other companies braaing in the same location and also hearing from another company that they were on their way to start a braai. Other than the guide telling you about the animals, you can do the whole of the Eastern Shores in your own car (sedan/hatchback). I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. There are plenty of others to choose from, or just save your money and drive through it yourself with your own delicious foods and snacks.
Took the river guided hippo and croc tour. We were a party of 10 and had a private boat. Skipper was very knowledgeable about the wildlife. This was the fourth time we've taken people on this tour using this company. If you want to see animals this is well worth the price.
Guide seemed not experienced at all. The braai took 2 hours, time that we'd rather used for game drive.
